Wind in the high grass

It appears that I am getting the snot kicked out of me on two fronts. I already told you about my neck, well it seems my ears are also acting up. My left ear is infected badly enough that we have to go back to Johns Hopkins on the fifteenth to so some kind of bone scan so that Dr. Niparko can figure out what to do. In the meantime the pain is pretty bad – actually the proper word to describe it is huge.

I went out to the battlefield today and walked down a path I had never taken before. I wound up sitting on a hill in the sunshine listening to the birds sing for a long time. It was only as I was getting ready to leave that I realized I had been sitting just a few feet from a deer. Apparently we had both been sitting there watching the wind and sunlight caress the grass.

As the deer ran into the high grass and I found myself laughing out loud at the sheer wonder of it.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll go back with my guitar.
